Electronic Gaming Monthly

This preview features screenshots from an earlier version of the Super Nintendo port:

The player select screen shows a box around both characters, in the final version, the box only appears over the character you want to select.

Unless, of course, this early build had a two player mode in it. One of the captions does state that you can "take on gang of thugs in one-on-one or two player combo combat!", and hackers have found some unused remnants of a two player mode in the final game. But the finished game does not have a two player mode.

Here, the map shows the industrial area is still present! The final version famously cut this level, so it was removed from the map.

The caption does state "there are five areas to conquer" rather than six. Had EGM been informed a level had been cut? Or did they mistakenly not realize that the subway was a level, since it's in a smaller font than the others?

On this screenshot, Two. P is colored orange and blue, making him look more accurate to the arcade version. In the final SNES version, he had his colors changed to red and green.

GamePro's 16 Bit Video Gaming
(February 1992)

A glowing review of the SNES port. The screenshots appear to be from the final USA version, as Sodom is called Katana.

Capcom official advertisement

Capcom's ad shows has Final Fight on display on the TV, but it's from an earlier version. Two. P is colored orange and green in this screenshot, in EGM's preview he was orange and blue. For the final version of the game, he's colored red and green.
