El Viento (Mega Drive)

A game by Wolf Team that isn't actually bad, and is worth playing, this game is the first in an unnamed trilogy of games but was the last one in the series for me to actually play through. It is easily the best one though (Earnest Evans and Annet Futatabi don't even compare) and whilst it isn't a particualrly tough game to complete the memorable moments (midget pirates, stupid pixelatted explosions and jellyfish, some decent music) make it all worthwhile. I beat the game.

Earnest Evans (Mega Drive)

A quite poor sequel to El Viento featuring wacky multi-sprite Earnest as the whip-wielding hero who you have to guide around poorly created levels with enemies that take too long to kill, terrible collision detection problems and lousy controls that don't respond well enough half the time. If they'd just made it a straight Castlevania rip-off it probably would have turned out much better than the end result. I've completed this now and despite having 12 levels it's quite a short game and not worth bothering with.

Hokuto no Ken (PS2)

I really like this game. The youtube vids I saw looked pretty sweet so I thought why not. What this game is is a beatiful looking 2D fighter based on the Fist of the North Star series along with various special and super moves for each character. Every character has also got a "Fatal" K.O. attack which you can do under the right conditions which, as well as looking totally flashy, will instantly K.O. the opponent and it really is a great feeling landing those. The only gripe I have right now is that the cast size is really small (only 10 fighters) and after seeing a lot of the anime there were simply loads of awesome characters they could have used, so hopefully there will be a sequel. I beat the game with Kenshiro, Shin and Rei without using any continues.

The King of Fighters '94 Re-bout (PS2)

A remake of the first game in the series which is fine, until you reach the boss who is still stupid, cheap and it just makes the single player mode a waste of time -I can get through the normal CPU opponents fairly easily but then I get to this Rugal jerk, he has two forms and both are horrendous. So try fixing stuff that actually matters next time SNK.
