Out at a canyon, a vehicle is firing several nutomic charges. Inside the vehicle, Eddie Houseman is watching the destruction when Cheng tells him that the explosions are cutting through in line with the survey. The canyon seems to be clear, which Eddie is happy about as they are on schedule and should all get a decent bonus for their work. He wants a closer look and has Chuck move their truck moved forward.

But as they go into the canyon, there is a rockfall and they have to move back. They decided to call it a day there and head back to base, which happens to be a massive construction vehicle...

...which is laying down a road as it moves along. Eddie's team returns and the front of the larger vehicle opens up, letting them park inside on a turn-table. Eddie goes to see his boss, Bob Gray, who thinks he's done good work. Hopefully they'll meet the date set for completing the job. They really want to get their construction work done on time as it is for their first big contract. Eddie has done his part by blasting through the canyon, and Bob tells him to enjoy his vacation. He asks if he is going anywhere special, but Bob just says he is looking up an old friend.

Meanwhile, on Tracy Island, Tin-Tin is getting herself ready when Grandma Tracy brings in some dresses. Tin-Tin thanks her, but Grandma says she just needs to decide what special occasion she will wear them. She also mentions maybe wearing them for a special person, and mentions Alan. Elsewhere, Gordon finds out that an aircraft is approaching the island, and after monitoring it, he and the others realise it is coming in to land.

Jeff quickly has operation cover-up activated, as the jet lands. Scott hopes that their new visitor doesn't stay very long, and Jeff agrees, as it could become very awkward if they get a rescue call. Kyrano brings the visitor up to where they are, and Tin-Tin recognises him straight away: it is Eddie Houseman. Later on...

Alan is solemnly playing a few notes on the piano when Virgil and Gordon decide to tease him. Virgil asks Gordon where Tin-Tin is, but Gordon says that this Prince Charming flew in and has swept her of her feet. Virgil asks if he is as handsome as himself, to which Gordon says he nearly is. Alan then tells them to knock it off, as that is all everyone seems to be talking about and the two of them are just friends -that's all. Out in the waters, Eddie has taken Tin-Tin on a boat ride.

The two talk about Eddie's job, as he tells her that they need to succeed with this job or they will go broke. Everything seems to be going to plan though and he hopes one day Tin-Tin can come and see the project. And back at the Gray and Houseman Construction Company mobile base, Bob tells Lester that they should just about make it through here before the weather gets worse, as it is meant to rain heavily within two days. However Lester has some bad news: he has checked his instruments and found out that there have been ground tremors in the mountains they are heading towards.

Bob wants to take a look, so he and Lester head out in the company jet. They take a look around the mountains and see large rockfalls, and Bob believes that the upcoming rain will bring the whole range down into the cutting Eddie made. They will never get the road finished now.

Back on Tracy Island, Tin-Tin has gotten herself all dressed up when her father tells her Eddie is waiting outside for her. As she goes to the lounge, she sees that Eddie is back on his jet, and takes off. Jeff explains that he just had a call from his company, and has had to go back urgently. Tin-Tin is upset that he did not even say goodbye to her, and walks out of the room.

Scott says that'll be the end of Eddie and Tin-Tin's relationship, whilst Virgil is just glad they didn't get an emergency call whilst Eddie was here. A day later, the rains have started and the mountain starts to fall apart. Bob says that there is nothing they can do now the rains have started, and they will have to wait until Spring to get the project finished. Eddie says they can't wait that long as they'll lose the contract, they can't hope to get it extended as the only reason they got it in the first place was because of the early completion date they gave. They'll lose everything if they fail to get this project done.

Lester thinks there is no other way, but Eddie has an idea: he wants to take some men out, have them carefully place nutomic charges and then blow them up so the mountain peak falls away from the road instead of into it. Bob doesn't like this idea as the entire mountain could collapse at any moment, and the slightest slide could make the charges explode accidentally. Bob says that, as the senior partner of the company, he is going to go with his idea of trying to get the contract extended as he doesn't want Eddie going out to risk his life. Eddie storms out.

Back on Tracy Island, Alan goes to Tin-Tin and asks if she would like to join him in doing some water-skiing. Tin-Tin declines, so Alan makes the big error of saying that that Eddie was mean to just walk out like that. Tin-Tin immediately gets up and leaves, leaving Alan confused. What did he say wrong? Grandma Tracy says he said everything wrong, and Alan guesses speeches aren't his strong point. He wonders what he should do, but Grandma tells him to leave it to her. Back at the Gray & Houseman base...

...everyone has turned in for the night apart from Eddie, who is determined to carry out his plan. He gets into the tractor which can fire charges and drives off. A little later on, Bob gets a call from Lester, who says an alarm has gone off. Bob tells him to meet him in the control room.

As Eddie goes on, he is oblivious to the fact that he is heading into danger -the alarm Lester raised is because he has found out there have been some severe tremors in the area of the cutting. Bob is glad he didn't let Eddie go there now, but wonders where he is. Lester says he hasn't seen him and it is strange for him to sleep through an alarm call. Bob realises Eddie may have gone out after all and tells Lester to find him quickly. Meanwhile Eddie is already at the place where he needs to go out and set some charges.

Chuck has found out that their explosives tractor is gone, and three cases of charges are also missing. Eddie is already planting the charges into the side of the mountain, despite the heavy rain which has started. Bob tries to contact Eddie and after several attempts, he gets a reply. Eddie says that he has planted the charges and just come back in.

Bob tells him to get out of there as there will be a landslide any minute due to the peak cracking up. Bob says he has no option but to detonate the charges now, but Bob says he is too close and tells him not to risk his life, the company isn't worth it. However Eddie cuts off the transmission and starts to blow up the charges. They explode, but it turns out he really is too close and one of the explosions rocks the tractor, shaking him around inside it.

His tractor ends up being pushed halfway over the cliff it was on. Bob says Eddie has done it and the path is clear, but Eddie reveals the situation: he can't leave his tractor, as if he tries to go for the door, the vehicle will lose balance and fall over. And to make things worse, he still has a case of nutomic charges inside the tractor with him. If the tractor falls, he will be blown sky high. Bob only has one option, and he calls International Rescue.

John picks up the signal and finds out the problem. Meanwhile Lester and Cheng have flown out in the jet and have landed at the bottom of the cliff. They call Eddie and tell him that Bob is contacting International Rescue.

John contacts Tracy Island and lets them know of the crisis, but also lets them know the name of the guy in the tractor: Eddie Houseman. Nobody is sure what to do as Eddie knows who they are, but they want to keep their cover. Jeff says that can't have someone sacrifice their life over it and tells Scott, Virgil and Alan to move out.

Some more rock falls and a boulder nearly hits the tractor. The crew are worried that it could all be over before International Rescue even arrive. Meanwhile, everyone is waiting for Thunderbirds 1 and 2 to arrive, and Grandma Tracy mentions to Tin-Tin that Alan went...even though he is sick. Tin-Tin seems surprised that Jeff let him go, as Grandma says everyone is worried about him. This is a total lie from Grandma though, as Alan is fine. He and Virgil are not that far behind Thunderbird 1.

Thunderbird 1 arrives at the danger zone, but doesn't land. Scott fires some long poles above the tractor, creating a barrier. This is done just in time as more rocks fall and hit the barrier rather than the truck. Thunderbird 2 then arrives, and Virgil has Alan deploy the craft's magnetic grabs. Virgil then moves Thunderbird 2 in closer, but as the craft's vertical jets activate...

...and threaten to push the tractor over. Scott has Thunderbird 2 move away, whilst he thinks of an idea. He moves Thunderbird 1 in closer from below, and places the craft's nose cone right under the front of the tractor. This lets Thunderbird 2 come back down without the problem of tipping the tractor over, and the magnetic grabs are activated.

Virgil moves away from the cliff, but the tractor proves to be to heavy for the grabs and Alan says it won't hold it for much longer. As the grabs begin to fail, Virgil moves Thunderbird 2 closer to another cliff, letting Eddie jump out of the tractor.

Scott tells Virgil that Eddie is clear, and that he needs to move the tractor to level ground. Virgil moves the tractor away, but the grabs fail and the truck is dropped. It falls and explodes on landing, but nobody has been hurt. Eddie returns to where the rest of the crew are, and whilst they say he's saved the road, he just says International Rescue are the ones who did the saving around here and he looks forward to thanking them.

However Bob says it doesn't look like he'll get the chance, as Thunderbird 1 and Thunderbird 2 are already heading away. Back on Tracy Island, Gordon and Jeff discuss how the rescue was done without them even having to land, meaning their cover is safe. Tin-Tin then appears and asks Jeff if she could speak to Alan. He lets her, and she tells him she was worried about him as he shouldn't have taken a chance like that. Alan asks if they could have a talk about it when they get back, and Tin-Tin says she'll be waiting.

NOTES

The jet Bob and Lester use has been seen in the series before, such as in "Pit of Peril". It has once again been recolored to look different though.

The tractor Eddie uses has also been in the series before, a slightly different version of it appears in "Space Probe". However Eddie's vehicle is apparently much larger, as seen when Thunderbird 1 gets under it.

Lester's hemet has "JBL" on it, whilst the other workers have their names printed on their helmets. Apparently the script refers to Lester as "J.B. Lester" so that kind of explains that.
