In India, the village where Ryu and Ken were staying was taken hostage by thieves seeking a forbidden treasure. Our heroes entered the cave where the treasure was kept, and faced a nightmare warrior that was a manifestation of their own souls. With determination and courage they passed this test, and saved the villagers. And Dhalsim then agreed to instruct them in the ways of the hadou technique.

Some kids run over to Dhalsim, and tell him that Ryu and Ken haven't moved all day. Dhalsim heads over to where the two are, and tells them that the time has come to begin their first lesson. He tells them to follow him, and he'll show them hadou.

They head to a waterfall. Dhalsim sits down and meditates, but then his entire body glows with a blue aura, and some yellow balls of energy appear.

These create a streak of light which seems to head straight up into the sky, but then it hits Ryu. Ken doesn't seem to be able to see this at all, but Ryu has been effected by it. Dhalsim says with this special breathing technique, you open the power that lies within yourself. It is the power of ki, which all beings possess. Through this technique it is transformed into the spiritual energy called hadou. The technique is known as kundalini. He doesn't know if this is the hadou they seek, as there are other forms of hadou, but kundalini is the one he has mastered.

Ryu then says there's something wrong with his body, it feels like it's going to explode any second! He's never felt anything like this before, it's like raw energy growing at the center of his stomach, and at any second it's going to burst! He thinks it's hadou, and he feels like he has to shoot it out of himself somehow. He goes into a stance, and waves his arms around.

Some balls of blue light surround him, and he continues to move his arms around. Ken asks if anything like this has ever happened before, and Dhalsim says yes -in legend. The hadou swirls around Ryu...

...until he gathers it together between the palms of his hands. But seconds later, it explodes.

Ken and Dhalsim get hit by a load of smoke, and once it clears away, they see Ryu lying face down. As Ken checks on Ryu, Dhalsim says Ryu just did what is known as hadou ken.

Ryu wakes up, and Dhalsim says in ages past, there was a man who could absorb the ki of the living things around him, and shape them to his will as though their energy was his own. He was the great master, Bohidharma. Ryu knows Bohidharma was also known as Daruma. Dhalsim says Bohidharma turned his ability to wield high concentrations of hadou into a combat technique.

It is said that Bohidharma could pulverize mighty boulders with a single blow from this force.

Dhalsim says that through the ages, this technique became to be known as the hadou ken. Ryu asks if what he shot out was the same power, and Dhalsim tells him what he did was channel the power of the living things around him, just as the master once was able to. He thinks his release of his own hadou through the kundalini exercise triggered the opening of Ryu's own chakra. Ryu asks what that is, and Dhalsim says they know of 7 types of ki which flow through the spines of all things living. This power is chakra, and Ryu just summoned the sixth type of chakra, known as swadistana chakra. In their language, it is called tanden, of the abdomen. Ken thinks this is great, Ryu has the power of Bohidharma! Ryu thinks that's right.

Dhalsim calls him a young fool. In mere moments, he has developed a power which even an exceptional pupil would require over 5 years of devotion to master. The backlash will be huge, and he has no control over the energy he brought forth, it simply exploded. He asks Ryu what would have happened if he lost consciousness. Ryu tells him he's make his point, and thinks about what would happen if he got that feeling in his stomach during a time when he couldn't concentrate like he could today. He knows that energy could explode like a bomb, and he could end up destroying things with it. He asks Dhalsim how he can control the chakra when he feels it building up in his body, he wants help in mastering the hadou ken.

Dhalsim says he can't. The method of controlling ki he himself uses, kundalini, calls forth swadistana chakra, which is only used for healing and purification. He doesn't know how to use it as a martial art. Ryu thinks someone must be able to teach him this power. Dhalsim says he knows no one alive who is familiar with it, and tells Ryu he must look within himself. Nobody can tell him how to go about it, he must find his own way.

Later on, Ken and Ryu discuss what has happened. Ken says all along they thought hadou was just another fighting technique, like a new kick they could learn or something. Ken thinks it must be scary having a power which would normally take years to cultivate, to know you could wield your ki like firing a gun... using your life force as a weapon. To find you have that power, but having no means of controlling it, or even someone to speak with who's experienced it. Ken thinks that's one of the scariest things you could face, wondering if you would lose control. Ryu says if he's unable to control it, then anyone he goes near is at risk.

Ken says this power could end up ripping him apart, but he knows Ryu won't give up. They'll learn the secret of hadou, and Ryu will become its master. He's sure if they work together, they'll find a way to develop the hadou ken. Ryu says this is going to mean a lot of danger, and asks Ken if he's sure he wants to be around him whilst he solving this. Ken says yes. The next morning, Ken gets up, but sees that Ryu is gone.

He asks Dhalsim where Ryu has gone. Dhalsim says Ryu has gone to the one place where he may face this: the cave of ancients. They go to the cave, and Ken wishes Ryu good luck. Inside the cave, Ryu is surrounded by smoke.

The smoke clears, and someone emerges from a beam of light. This time, it's Guile. Guile immediately attacks Ryu.

However, Ryu can see something. He can see tracks of light.

He realizes that Guile's attacks are following the light tracks, and realizes the lights are Guile's intentions. The hadou is showing him where Guile intends to attack! He blocks or evades all of Guile's attacks.

The two almost punch each other in the face, but their fists stop short. Ryu stands down, and thinks he doesn't want to fight any more. Guile was the one who showed them how arrogant they really were, and if they hadn't run up against him, he doesn't know what they would have been doing now -he probably would 't know the first thing about hadou. He wonders where Guile is now, as he'd really like to just talk to him for a little while.

Guile also stands down, and smiles. But then he glows brightly, and vanishes. Ryu realizes he's suddenly back at the waterfall.

But there's a storm, and a bolt of lightning hits the ground. Ryu thinks this is all so real, but is then hit by a lightning bolt.

He thinks about what Dhalsim told him earlier, about his lack of control. He then recalls what Ken said, about having that power but no means of controlling it. He then thinks about what Yo told him, about turning to Daruma for guidance. He then remembers something Chun Li once said: there's more to life than just kicking butt! He says that he's ready now, and believes he has been given this power for a reason. He won't back down until he's mastered the hadou ken! He goes into a stance, and waves his arms around. The hadou energy surrounds him.

As he gathers the hadou between his hands, he thinks it's even stronger than the one he did before. He can then see streaks of light, and wonders what they mean. He then realizes it's the hadou's intentions... but whose intentions, there's nobody here but himself. He then realizes these could he his intentions. He then sees Dhalsim, who calls him an amateur. He still thinks Ryu's mind is much like that of a beast, is he this unfocussed when he faces a physical opponent?! He tells him to focus his thoughts, and gather the conflicting intentions together as one. A train cannot run without rails upon which to move, so he must concentrate his intentions, and lay the rails upon his chosen path -only then will the hadou be mastered!

Ryu thinks Dhalsim is expecting too much from him, and wonders how he can concentrate his intentions. He wishes he was facing a real opponent, then he'd know what to do. But he then thinks of all the warriors he's met and fought against recently. He thinks he gets it now, as if he can visualize an opponent in his own mind... the light streaks suddenly all come together, and stop moving.

Ryu throws his arms forward, and unleashes the hadou ken. It shoots out of the cave of ancients, and Ken and Dhalsim watch it fly right up into the sky.

Later on, Ryu and Ken decide to leave. Ryu thanks Dhalsim for everything, but Dhalsim tells him to remember his hadou ken technique is far from perfected, so he must always keep training his mind. Ryu says he will, but also says his control is good enough now that at least he won't hurt anyone with it. All the lessons he's learnt from him, along with his own martial arts training, has given him a pretty good start at mastering the hadou power.

Dhalsim says he looks forward to seeing his progress, and tells them to go in peace. Mhenu tells them to remember to come back and see them, and Ken says they'll be back. He and Ryu then leave the village, and head back to their boat.

Ken tells Ryu that there was a message waiting for them at the hotel where they registered in the city. It's from Chun Li, but all it really says is for them to get to Barcelona, Spain. Apparently Interpol have asked for Dorai to go, and Ken thinks it sounds like fun. Ryu says he's never been to Spain, so Ken says they'll get back to the city, and then be on the next flight out of here. Ryu says farewell to India.

Cold, shining claws that bring forth a crimson spray! And a rose clenched in lips hungry for a forbidden kiss. He is the handsome matador of Barcelona, known as Vega! And the prize for which he fights is Chun Li herself! Be here for Street Fighter II V: The Bloodthirsty Young Nobleman - A Lust for Beauty and a Love Potion for Chun Li. Gonna burn some muscle!
