In 1992, Konami released X-Men in arcades. This scrolling beat 'em up caused quite a stir at the time as there was a deluxe version of it which allowed 6 players to fight together at the same time. the most ever seen before. The character designs were actually based on the Pryde of the X-Men episode and the plot of the game is loosely based on it. The 6 selectable characters are Cyclops, Colossus, Dazzler, Nightcrawler, Storm and Wolverine. Nearly all of the bad guys featured in Pryde of the X-Men make an appearance at some point.

Each X-Men character has a special mutant power which can clear the screen of enemies, such as Wolverine's rapid claw swipes. You cannot use these whenever though, you have to either have a power-up for it or sacrifice some of your own health gauge.

This game isn't great, even for a scrolling beat 'em up. There could have been more enemy variety and the playable characters need more moves. Some also criticize the rampant Engrish, especially whenever Magneto appears, with classic lines such as "I am Magneto! Master of Magnet!" and "Welcome to Die!". It took 18 years for a console port to be released, with a downloadable version released on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 late on in 2010.

This is me playing through the entire thing with 5 other people. I'm playing as Nightcrawler.
