The Major has returned home, and as he walks past his troops, a meeting discussing him is taking place between Maxwell and a priest. The priest says the Major looked nothing like any other Nazi SS officer that he'd ever seen. Maxwell says that, at the time (1941) the priest was a member of the Vatican's European directorate. And he collaborated with this man, and his organization. The priest says he must understand that they were forced into working with the Major.

As Seras and Pip head back to Alucard with some supplies, Alucard has made a call to his master. He says that Millennium's methods and desires are now part of his memory. Integra congratulates him and then says that the Queen has called for a gathering between herself and the round table. He is too return to England at once so he can make his report to her. Alucard says he'll return, but then asks if she enjoyed declaring war on his enemies, letting him rip them apart. Integra yells at him and then puts the phone down. Alucard laughs.

At Millennium's base, an old Commander asks the Major what is going on. The Major says he can't answer him, as his orders are top secret, given to him from the late Führer. Not happy with this response, the Commander punches the Major down and then starts beating him with his cane, demanding to know why he is not turning him or the other, older Nazis commanders into vampires.

His cane is then shot apart as one of the Major's subordinates, Zorin, tells him that one more childish outburst like that will result in him getting his head blown off. The other Nazis then take aim at the Commander, as he asks again what is going on -what does the Major plan to do with his army of 1,000 vampires?

Back at the meeting, the priest tells Maxwell that the Major was a man who was ready to command the legions of hell itself. Maxwell says the Major's plan would have him create many vampires, a secret "last battalion". The priest helped fund this operation, and he knew about it. He was a collaborator. He wasn't "forced" to work with the Major at all, he wanted to do it in the hope that the Major would turn him into a vampire. Another person in the room walks towards the priest, as he tries to say that this wasn't just him, and that he was tricked. He then asks Maxwell to help him, and Maxwell nods.

Meanwhile Alucard, Seras and Pip are trying to figure out how to get back to England. Pip says a private jet is out of the question, and wants to use a boat, but Seras says that going by boat will take a week. Plus they need to be able to take the coffins with them. Alucard says that within his coffin is his own true kingdom. It's where he was born, and where he'll die. Suddenly the door gets kicked in as Anderson appears. He immediately gets into a fight with Alucard.

He brings out his bayonets as Alucard reveals his guns, but then Anderson stops fighting and instead pins a piece of paper to the wall. He tells them that the Vatican has a small private jet 13 kilometers away from here, and they now have a release paper. They should take the release paper now and get out of here before he decides to decapitate Alucard again.

The way Maxwell has decided to "help" the priest is to have one of his subordinates, Heinkel Wolfe, deal with him. She has a gun to his head, and as Maxwell leaves the room, he simply says "Amen". Heinkel shoots the priest in the head and kills him.

At the Hellsing HQ, the round table members have gathered along with Integra and Walter. Maxwell and some of his underlings are also present, and then Alucard, Seras and Pip enter the room. Integra congratulates him on a job well done, but now the Queen awaits him, so he should take off his glasses. Alucard complies and then kneels before the Queen. She says that it's been a long time, and wants to look at him.

She says that in all these years, he hasn't changed at all. But the years have taken their toll on her. Can he believe how quickly he became an old woman? Alucard says that to him, he can still see the same spirited girl that he saw 50 years a go. And in his eyes, time has made her even more beautiful. The Queen smiles and tells the vampire to make his report.

Alucard explains that 55 years a go, a deranged Nazi Major attempted to create a vampire army. However, he and Walter laid waste to their operation. But it seems that they refused to die.

They've returned, replenished their numbers and are ready to complete their original mission. That's what Millennium truly is: the "Last Battalion". A voice then says that Tubalcain's blood must have given them away. Everybody sees that a young Nazi officer has somehow gotten into the room. Walter apologizes but says he has no idea how this happened.

The officer, Schrödinger, says that security would be useless against him, as he's everywhere and nowhere. Heinkel and Pip draw out their guns, but Schrödinger tells them to wait, as he's just the messenger, he isn't here to fight with them. Seras is surprised at how young Schrödinger is, and wonders what Millennium is and what do they want. Schrödinger presents the gathered representatives of the Vatican and Great Britain with a message from his commanding officer, the Major...or at least he would if he could get the portable screen to work.

Schrödinger eventually gets the picture, and everyone sees several corpses along with someone screaming for help. It's the bodies of the Nazis who had yet to be turned into vampires, and the Major says that with their deaths, it feels like a great weight has been lifted from his shoulders. Alucard says hello, and the Major says how good it is to see him again, as its been far too long. Integra asks what he wants, and he tells the fräulein that it's a pleasure to meet her. She wants to know what he hopes to accomplish, what is his purpose?

The Major says that's a stupid question. To put it simply, their purpose is a total absence of purpose. There are some people in the world who's means don't require and end. As he finishes this sentence, he clicks his fingers and some vampires attack and kill the Commander, and are told not to stop until he is completely gone, as they don't want him turning into a ghoul.

Maxwell calls them insane. The Major hears this remark and think it's amusing someone from Iscariot would question his sanity. Does Maxwell's God allow them to act like this? Wouldn't it make his God just as insane? They've killed so many people now, and again, is he really calling him insane? Iscariot didn't have any objections 50 years a go. He tells them to go ahead and try and stop him, but Iscariot isn't his true enemy. His true enemy is Britain, and Hellsing. Or to be more specific, that man who's in the corner, laughing. Alucard is the one laughing, and it pleased the Major has declared war. He'll destroy them again. The Major says they'll never give up, and will reverse this situation as many times as they have to.

Integra orders for Alucard and Seras to shoot. Alucard puts his gun in Schrödinger's mouth and destroys his head with one shot. The Major says shooting the messenger isn't nice and then tells Integra he looks forward to meeting her again in the battlefield. The screen is then shot to pieces by Seras. Everybody then notices that the body of Schrödinger has vanished, but the Queen then speaks. She tells Alucard and Integra what her orders are: destroy them.

Later on, Doc tells the Major that they now have the attention of their audience. The Major tells him and the Captain that one he starts to dance, he dances to the end. The three of them enter the command center, where Schrödinger is waiting for them. He tells the Major he's so slow -in the time it took him to walk down that hallway, he's been to London, had his head blown off, and then come back here. Maybe he should go on a diet? The Major laughs and tells him that he couldn't do that.

Doc isn't impressed with Schrödinger's attitude and tells him to show the Major some respect, but the Major says it's OK, as Schrödinger has completed his mission. The Nazis then start to move out in their three blimps -with their flagship, the Dues ex machina, leading the way. They are heading towards England, to once again dominate the skies of London.

As Millennium move out, one of their members has started her own mission. She approaches a aircraft carrier via helicopter. Inside the bridge of the HMS Eagle, the crew have no idea where this helicopter has come from and are about to shoot it down when suddenly the ship's number one reveals that he is a vampire.

He starts to murder the crew and within minutes most of them have become ghouls. The helicopter lands and out steps Rip Van Winkle. She says that she has now acquired a pretty ship. Tinker tailor, soldier sailor...her bullet punishes all without distinction.

The vampire number one, who Van Winkle now calls her Captain, approaches her. He tells her the ship and its crew are at Millennium's disposal. She asks him what it fells like to become a vampire, to have led a mutiny, to murder his crew and commit high treason all in one night? He isn't sure how to respond, but Van Winkle understands. She then asks him how he feels to have turned all of his crew into ghouls and condemn them to hell? The new Captain doesn't answer to that either, but Van Winkle then congratulates him. He's done a good job and Millennium is happy to have him. They couldn't have done this without him and the Major will be so proud. He deserves everything that's coming to him, so now that the deed is done...

"...hurry up and die, filthy limey."

Van Winkle fires a single shot from her musket, as the Captain jumps back and sees that he's been setup. The two ghouls with him get ripped apart, but the Captain is confused -he only heard one shot, how did it hit two targets? Van Winkle says she is a huntress. Tinker tailor, soldier sailor...her bullets punishes all without distinction.

The Captain leaps towards Van Winkle, but her bullet is still flying around and smashes into his head.

The impact of the bullet destroys the Captain's body and kills him. Inside her helicopter, the Nazi vampire troops awaken and get up. They find Van Winkle on the ship's deck, having painted a large swastika on it. She tells them that the ship was a bit drab here, so she thought she'd properly christen their new ship.

Back in England, Walter talks to Alucard about Millennium. They keep killing them, but they just come back. Alucard says they can just keep doing that, they'll just keep killing them. This time it isn't just the two of them, it's nice to have a new piece on the board. Walter asks why Alucard decided to turn Seras into a vampire. It seemed like an out of character thing for Alucard to do. Alucard says that it wasn't his decision, it was hers. He then asks about her family, but Walter says she has none, she was orphaned. Alucard says that beneath her girlish exterior lies a fascinating and complicated creature. After what happened to her in Cheddar, what did she do? She chose not to give up. Those who choose that will be entitled to their time to trample on the weak. Walter asks if he's just waiting for her to drink blood, and Alucard says he knows she will, one day.

Elsewhere Seras, is attempting to eat a meal, but she can't seem to do it, and starts coughing. Someone then throws a bag of medical blood onto the table.

Integra appears and asks why she won't drink blood. She isn't human any more, she's a vampire, and it's time she accepted this. Before Seras can try and answer, Integra removes one of her gloves and uses a knife to cut her finger. She tells Seras that she doesn't want it to get infected, so she needs to lick it for her. That's an order.

Seras reluctantly does what she's told, and Integra reminds her not to bite down. Her blood is that of a 100% pure virgin. Does it make her feel better? Seras thanks her, as she tells her to get ready: they've lost contact with the aircraft carrier Eagle, and are assuming it's the work of Millennium.

NOTES

This episode adapts the majority of the manga's fourth volume and over half of the fifth. The opening scenes keep interrupting each other in the episode, which doesn't happen in the manga. The episode actually shows the priest getting shot in the head, whilst in the manga this isn't shown (but is heavily implied it's what is going to happen to him).
