As Battleship Maximus heads for the Earth, a strange incident happens at an ancient site in Athens. A tour group suddenly has to run away as something emerges from the ground!

A rocket appears, as do the Clonetrons. The two of them launch the rocket before transforming and leaving the area. The rocket heads into space, and opens up to reveal a satellite.

Elsewhere, Predaking and Bruticus attack a ship called Queen World. Predaking picks the ship up and throws it across the waters, causing it to sink.

News that the Destrons are back and wrecking havoc reaches Cybertron City. A Cybertron Intelligence Officer reports that the Queen World has been sunk around 2KM from Lisbon. Spike and Carly look at a computer, and draw a line between the boat attack and the incident in Athens. Spike things the Destron base must be somewhere along this line. Spike has two teams sent out: the Protectbots go one way, whilst the Clonebots and Throttlebots go another.

Meanwhile, Fortress is oblivious to what is happening on Earth, and the Cybertrons are still looking for MegaZarak. Fortress orders for them to go at full speed. Meanwhile, in another room, Daniel is still thinking about Sixshot, and how if MegaZarak reaches the Earth, terrible things could happen. Blanker tells Chromedome he thinks that MegaZarak will have reached the Earth by now. Chromedome apologizes as he wasted their time by accepting Sixshot's challenge. Blanker tells him that's fine, but he mustn't lose his fighting spirit.

As he leaves, Hardhead points out how much better he and Chromedome have been getting on recently. Chromedome thinks he's talking nonsense but the other Headmasters join in in saying that the two of them are like best buddies now. Fortress then contacts Metroflex, who tells him about the incidents on Earth -the Destrons are back! Battleship Maximus enters Earth's atmosphere, but none of the Cybertrons know that Sixshot is hitching a ride on it.

There has been another strange incident on Earth, and the Protectbots are on the way to it in Canberra, Australia. A massive tower has burst out of the ground, and as the Protectbots move in, Bruticus has appeared. He tells them that the "Death Tower" cannot be destroyed!

The Protectbots form Guardian, but Bruticus knocks him down, with such force that one of his arms falls off. Bruticus says he'll crush him, but Guardian uses "speed change" to quickly swap a leg for an arm and vice versa, letting him shoot at Bruticus from his left leg. He changes his arm and leg back and then gets up, as the battle resumes.

Meanwhile another Death Tower has appeared, this time in Santiago, Chile. The Clonebots and Throttlebots are on there way, but as they arrive, they see Predaking next to the tower. Elsewhere, Battleship Maximus has landed in a lake on Earth. Sixshot departs, but thinks that Daniel is a true warrior now and that he hopes they will be able to meet again.

Metroflex then arrives and fills Fortress in on the fact that Santiago has now been attacked. They have not seen MegaZarak anywhere either. Blanker says he and his team will head to Santiago and check out what is going on. Meanwhile the Cybertron Headmasters discuss what the Destrons could be doing. Fortress has no doubts that these Death Towers are part of the Destron plan to destroy Earth. He doesn't know what these towers will do, but he thinks more will appear. The first two are on the same latitude in the southern hemisphere. There is a good chance two more will appear in the northern hemisphere.

Arcee then comes in with some bad news: Spike's aircraft, which was on the way to Santiago, has...Arcee isn't sure to continue with Daniel in the room, but Fortress tells her to speak. She says that the aircraft has had to make an emergency landing in the Andes, and she doesn't know if Spike and Carly are alright. The Cybertron Headmasters say they will find out.

The team head there with Daniel on the Trainbots. Meanwhile Fortress meets with Spacepunch, who tells him that he himself doesn't know MegaZarak's location. The last time he spoke to Scorponok, he was told to just monitor Cybertron activity in case they found out where he went. When he left Scorponok and MegaZarak, they were in the Strait of Gibraltar. Spacepunch says he will try and gather more information, and leaves.

Meanwhile, in Santiago, the Throttlebots try to stop Predaking by clinging onto him, but he gets them all off and sends them crashing through some houses. Cloudraker starts shooting at him, but gets swatted. Predaking hides behind the tower, just as the Cybertron Targetmasters appear. Sureshot starts scanning the tower, but Predaking then appears again and tells the Cybertrons to get out of the way.

Blanker says they're the best warriors in the universe, and proves he has a much newer toy is really powerful by taking down Predaking with a single shot. Sureshot's scanner goes off the scale, as the tower begins to collect enormous amounts of energy, turning the sky dark in doing so.

The Trainbots arrive in the Andes, and they see Spike's plan has landed right over a crevasse, which several people have fallen down. Carly is also down there, and is unconscious. The Cybertrons can't fit down there because of their size, and Hardhead points out they need to rescue everyone before they freeze to death. With Spike hurt, Daniel says he will go down the crevasse to rescue his mother.

Back in Australia, the Death Tower there has begun to create an energy steam, just like the one in Chile. Bruticus has beaten Guardian, just as Pounce and Wingspan arrive. They tell him that they are pulling out. Bruticus moans that he was having fun, but the Clonetrons says they have got to intercept some Cybertrons. The three leave, and Guardian attempts to chase them, but gets blasted back down to Earth by the energy stream.

Daniel gets to his mother and carries her upwards thanks to Wheelie pulling him up. Daniel nearly falls but manages to get a grip again and Wheelie continues to pull him up, and soon enough they reach the top.

Fortress looks at a world map and sees the locations of the two current Death Towers. He finds out that they are extracting energy straight from the Earth's core. Arcee asks if there is anyway to destroy the towers, but Fortress says that doing something like that could be too dangerous as they don't know what kind of after effect it might have. Chromedome then contacts them saying that the rescue operation has succeeded thanks to Daniel.

Sixshot finds Bruticus, Pounce and Wingspan, who tell him that the Australia mission is complete and that they are now heading to the North Pole to rendezvous with Zarak. Sixshot doesn't seem to know what they are talking about, but explains that he and Scorponok went separate ways to fight the Cybertrons, so he isn't fully up to date with his plans. The Clonetrons tell Bruticus to go on ahead whilst they talk to Sixshot. Bruticus thought they were going together, but eventually tells Sixshot he'll see him later, and walks off.

"Why are they leaving me out?!"

The Clonetrons explain that as Scorponok was heading back towards Earth, he ordered them to send out the satellite. The satellite will collect all of the plasma energy that will be released when the Earth explodes. They then turn to leave for the North Pole...but Sixshot punches them both and then smashes their heads together, seemingly killing them.

Back with the Cybertrons, Spike explains to Fortress that thanks to Daniel, Carly has been saved. The Cybertron Targetmasters then return and have found out that the Death Towers are covered in something called "Crysmagnetal", an ancient substance which comes from the sea, and is extremely rare. Once the substance comes into contact with energy, it emits dangerous electro-magnetic waves.

At the Cybertrons think about what they are going to do, a third Death Tower appears in Washington and instantly starts to emit the electro-magnetic waves. Scorponok's evil scheme to destroy the Earth is reaching the final stage -can the Cybertrons find a way to protect the planet?

NOTES

The Cybertron Intelligence Officer seen briefly near the start of this episode is voiced by Hiroshi Takemura. Hiroshi would go on to voice Ginrai, one of the main characters of Super-God Masterforce, the next Transformers series.

The Throttlebots return in this episode -they were last seen in episode six, where it looked like they died. Or maybe they were just kicked off the team for a while for insubordination. Either way, they are back here, just in time to be soundly beaten up by Predaking.

The way Guardian swaps his arm and leg around seems to be a reference to Scramble power, although this episode never mentions it as such -instead, Guardian says "Speed change!" when swapping parts around.
