Terry runs away from someone and tells them to stay back. But it's Krauser who's after him, and he slams him into a wall!

Terry wakes up, having had a nightmare. A woman appears, and says she's glad he's finally awake. Terry wonders where he is, and the woman, Elza, explains that her son Tony brought him to their home. Terry has been out for three days, so he must be starving. She brings him some food, and Terry asks her where Tony is. Elza says he's out working. As she injured herself and can't work, Tony earns all of their money. Terry notices a picture of Tony and his father.

Elza says she doesn't want to lose Tony the same way she lost his father. She asks Terry not to encourage Tony, as he's all she has left. Terry tells her he understands, and says he'll leave today.

Later on, Terry arrives at a train station. Tony is shining someone's shoe, but then notices Terry. He runs after him and asks where he's going, as he hasn't healed yet! He thinks his mom must have chased him out, and says he'll take him back home. But Terry has decided to leave, and says he has places to go. He says goodbye, and when Tony says he'll come with him, Terry says no. He tells Tony that wolves treasure their families, and he doesn't want him to break his mother's heart. He tells Tony to take care.

Terry gets on a train, which heads out of South Town. Hopper watches him go, and then leaves the station. Meanwhile, Tony has managed to get on the train, and is waiting on top of it. He says he won't give up that easily!

The train comes to a stop, and Terry buys a bottle of alcohol. He starts drinking, but then tells Tony to come out. Tony is surprised he's been found out.

Terry wants to know why he followed him, as he told him to go home and go back to his mother. He's just a drunk, he can't watch out for a kid. Tony says he's not a kid, and he can take care of himself! But he says he won't give up on Terry. As he walks off, Terry starts drinking.

Terry starts drinking a lot, and starts hitting all the bars and strip clubs around. He ends up getting so wasted that two guys beat him up and throw him outside into some trash, whilst also taking his wallet.

Tony finds Terry, and asks him if he's alright. Terry asks why he hasn't gone home yet, but Tony tells him that Krauser said he'd be waiting in his castle. Shouldn't Terry be training or something? Terry takes off his gloves and says it's too late, he's lost... he'll always lose. He tosses his gloves into the trash, and says there's no way for him to beat Krauser. As he stumbles off, he says that Krauser is a monster.

In Japan, Mai Shiranui runs back to her dojo, where she sees master Jubei. Mai says she's heard that Andy is back, and asks where he is. Jubei says Andy is up in the mountains, training. He also thinks that Mai sure has grown...

...and he decides to do something unspeakable. Mai tells him to keep his hands to himself, and smacks him with one of her fans. She calls him a disgusting old pervert, and it serves him right! She heads off to the mountains, whilst Jubei thinks she's just as high-spirited as ever.

Andy is training on a raft, but then stops and catches two fans thrown at him. Mai tells him that was a nice catch, and jumps down from a tree.

She takes her fans back, and Andy says it's good to see her again. Mai thinks he's a heartless beast saying something like that, and starts attacking him. Andy manages to stop her, and asks what she's so mad about. She says he returned to Japan, and never even called her!

Andy says why should he -was he expecting her to call? Mai says she waited so long, he'd left for a year without telling her fiance! Andy is a bit surprised at the fiance part.

Mai spins around and uses her dragon flame dance move, which knocks Andy down. Mai declares she's Japan's number one!

Joe then appears, and tells Andy this is no time to be playing with girls. Terry has lost a fight, and has disappeared! Andy gets up, and has his back to Mai. Mai sees this as an opening, and goes to attack.

However Andy hits her with a projectile, which knocks her into the water. Andy can't believe his brother lost. Later on, everyone is back at the dojo.

Mai is taking a bath, and can't believe Andy really hit her... but she does love a strong man. Elsewhere, Andy and Joe asks Jubei about Krauser. Jubei knows that Terry is a superb fighter, but he can believe that he lost to Krauser. Andy asks who Krauser is.

Jubei says that Krauser is the latest in a line of European martial artists that stretches back to ancient Rome. He's the 35th Earl of Stroheim, and for generations, they've used their fighting skills to serve as bodyguards for European nobility. Even today, when European nobles travel, the Stroheim family acts as their secret service. But that is merely the public appearance -most of the revolutions and civil wars Europe has ever known were instrumented by the Stroheim family. The blood of millions is on their hands, which is why the head of the Stroheim family is often called the Emperor of Darkness.

Jubei says that Wolfgang Krauser is the greatest fighter of that dreadful line. Mai walks over, and overhears Jubei saying that on Krauser's 16th birthday, he defeated his father to become the head of the family. He actually killed his own father in combat, but never shed a single tear, and some say he laughed. Mai thinks this is boring.

In Germany, Krauser walks up to a picture of his father. He says he just had his favorite piece played, and thinks he would have liked it. For one day of each year, he allows himself to think of him...

Rudolph beats his son down, and asks him if it hurts. If he doesn't like it, he should make himself strong. He needs to become stronger than he is, stronger than anyone else in the world. Krauser thinks about his father's words, but that was also the day his tears ran dry. And ten years later, on his 16th birthday...

Krauser challenges Rudolph. Rudolph tells his son he's become strong, and maybe he thinks he can beat him. But he still leads this family, and he won't be bested by him. He tells his son to take his best shot. Krauser says nothing, but then suddenly rushes forward.

Rudolph is unprepared for how strong Krauser has become, and the fight ends in just three moves. Rudolph collapses and dies, and as Krauser looks at him, he realizes he has no sense of triumph, only emptiness. Since then, emptiness is all he's ever felt. But once a year, he allows himself some sentiment.

Back in Japan, Jubei says that Krauser also has a half-brother, but even his brother fears and avoids Krauser. He wants them to stay away from Krauser, but Andy has already started to walk off. Jubei throws a pipe at the door.

Jubei warns him that whilst he's improved, he's still not ready for Krauser. If he was to fight Krauser now, he'd die. Andy opens the doors and says that may be the case, but he still has to go. Mai appears and tells Andy no, asking him not to do this. He's finally come back, she doesn't want him to leave her again. Joe gets up and says a girl isn't going to stop Andy now.

He says that Andy's soul burns for revenge, so she can't stand in his way. But he's going to go with him. Jubei thinks they're both idiots, and they won't listen to reason. So if they want to go, they'll have to beat him first. Andy nods.

Meanwhile, Terry is passed out on a park bench. A gang comes up to him, and says they've found a drunk. Terry wakes up, and one of the guys says they just wanted a little chat. He and his buddies are out of cash, so they hope Terry will lend them a little. Terry says he doesn't have any money for scum like them, so they should go away before they get hurt. The gang leader says he has a big mouth, and grabs him. He says they're the toughest street fighters around, so he'd better take back what he just said.

Terry responds by spitting on him. The gang leader tries to punch him, only for Terry to grab his fist and crush it. He then punches the guy down.

Terry says he'll show the rest of them what a real fight is like. Elsewhere, Tony is moving some bottles when he overhears some people talking about a fight in the park. He heads over and sees that Terry has brutally beaten up the rest of the gang, and is now drinking again.

Back at the dojo, Jubei tells Andy that if he wins their fight, then Andy must remain here and continue his training. He may have improved, but if he fights Krauser now, he'll be killed. Jubei then says that whilst he may be old, people still call him the demon, and he still has plenty of power. Andy says he understands, and will fight with all of his skill. The fight begins, and Jubei uses his judo throw techniques.

As Joe and Mai watch, Joe thinks Andy has made exceptional progress, as his speed and power are much greater than they were a year ago. He notices Mai, and sees she isn't even blinking -she's quite a girl. Jubei manages to throw Andy to the floor.

Jubei leaps up and says this is the end, only for Andy to get up and use his sky rendering bullet technique. Jubei gets hit by it, and crashes into some boards.

Andy bows, and then leaves. Joe says he'll be going, and heads off. Jubei tells Mai to go with Andy, and not to worry about him.

Jubei tells her that, whatever it takes, she must not let him fight Krauser. Mai goes after Andy, whilst Jubei thinks he's too old for this. Maybe he ought to retire...
