Pre-level 1 cutscene

Near the European border - Renvrandt Castle

Earnest: ...as I was saying, they asked me to come here and appraise the treasures in this castle.

Annet: What did you need my help for, then?

Earnest: Well, come to think of it, I can't think of anything specific...

Annet: Then, what should I...

Kirke: If I may interject... Annet, Princess Aisha would like to have an audience with you. The Princess is very interested in foreign cultures.

Earnest: I see, that's a great idea. Annet, be sure to be on your best behavior!

Annet: Yes!

Fake Princess: Interesting. The world is so full of wonders unknown to me.

Annet: Yeah! I mean, yes, your majesty...

Fake Princess: Ah-haha... you don't have to worry about such formalities with me. By the way, I was curious about that pendant you're wearing...

Annet: Yes, it's a memento from my adoptive father*, the Meiya High Priest, whom I was just speaking about.

Fake Princess: If you don't mind, could I see it?

*(Earnest is meant to be Annet's adoptive father, or at least that's what his bio stated in El Viento. However in this dialogue, Annet seemingly says she was adopted by the Meiya clan and the pendant was a gift from whomever looked after her... this appears to be a retcon, potentially to make the "Annet loves Earnest" plot featured in this game less creepy. Or it could just be carelessness on Wolf Team's part. You choose...)

Fake Princess: I've got the pendant! Get rid of the girl!

Annet: Princess Aisha, wh-what are you doing?!

Guards: RAARRRGH!

Pre-level 2 cutscene

Annet: Why did everyone in the castle attack me... and where in the world am I?!

Princess: Who's there???

Annet: What's that?

Annet: You're...! Then that Princess was an imposter?

Princess: Yes. She locked me in here. Virgilis put her on the throne, and he's trying to take over this country...

Virgilis: And what would be wrong with that, I wonder?

Virgilis: A naive idealist like you cannot defend this country from the coming storms.

Virgilis: Just hold it right there. Don't move.

Annet: Wh, what are you doing?

Virgilis: Isn't it obvious? If you move, I'll shoot the Princess.

Annet: You coward...

Virgilis: 'Coward'? You're not a soldier, so I don't expect you to understand. This is what the tactics of war look like.

Virgilis: Now then... if you don't tell me where you're hiding that idol, she will have to fight against our elite soldiers. I wonder... will you be able to stand here and watch them massacre her?

Annet: Agh...

Pre-level 3 cutscene

Virgilis: What the...impossible! How could she make it this far?

Annet:: Ah...huh?!

Soldiers: FIRE!

Virgilis: Find her! Find that girl and kill her immediately!

Soldiers:: Yes!

Annet: Thank you for saving me back there. But why did you do it...?

Kirke: Not everyone in the army agrees with Virgilis. Also, I wanted to give this back to you...

Annet: That's... Thank you! How can I ever repay you?

Kirke: There's no time for that. You need to get out of here.

Annet: But Mr. Earnest, he's still back there...

Kirke: You don't need to worry about Mr. Earnest. My troops are keeping him safe.

Annet: But...

Kirke: Here they come. I'll distract them while you get away. Run, quickly now!

Annet: Yes!

Pre-level 4 cutscene

Annet: I've got to hurry! Agh, what?!

Boss: RAAAAAGH!!

Annet: Ahhhhhhh! Argh...

Annet: Ugh... Mr. Zig...?

Zigfried: Ah, you've awakened, Annet. Perfect timing; I just made you a cup of tea. You must be wondering why I, Zigfried--who was exiled to America and hate Nexuses--am wearing their army uniform.

Annet: Yeah...

Zigfried: I have something to show you that should clear everything up.

Annet: ?! What is this?!

Zigfried: Behold the capacity of the human form for transformation. It's amazing, isn't it? Before long they will conquer the world as the most powerful force ever known to mankind...

Annet: Do you know what you're saying?! This is a blasphemy against God!

Zigfried: God? Which God are you referring to, exactly? Hastur? Or perhaps...

Annet: No, let go of me!

Soldiers: Little brat!

Pre-level 5 cutscene

Annet: Huff..huff...

Earnest:
Annet!

Annet: Mr. Earnest?!

Earnest: Annet, jump!

Earnest: Are you alright, Annet?

Annet: Yes!

Earnest: Zigfried...

Kirke: Roger, we're all good here! How are things looking there?

Annet: I see... so they were after this idol.

Earnest: It's one of this country's national treasures. The question is, why is Nexuses after something like this?

Annet: Nexuses?

Earnest: Kirke told me Virgilis wants the idol at all costs. If he gets his hands on it, he'll have no reason to keep the real Princess alive. And Nexuses appears to be behind it all.

Kirke: Mr. Earnest! I'm heading back to the Castle!

Earnest: You're going BACK?!

Kirke: Virgilis handed the Princess Aisha over to the Nexuses soldiers! Please take the idol with you. As long as we have the idol, the Princess' life should be safe.

Annet: Kirke must really love the Princess...

Earnest: Well, he may not be the greatest retainer, but as a man, he gets high marks from me.

Annet: Yeah...

Earnest: That is, um, nevermind...

Annet: Mr. Earnest... about us...*

Earnest: Annet... you know what we have to do. We can't just let Zigfried steal your pendant, now can we? And hey, if we end up saving the Princess along the way, who's complaining?

*(There's a suggestion in the Japanese that is difficult to convey due to a difference of grammar/syntax, that what Annet wanted to talk about there was the two of them--but Earnest interrupts her and shifts the conversation to what they're going to do next.)

Richtenreich: So... Earnest has stolen the Two-Face Goddess Idol.

Zigfried: Yes. I probed the Princess' consciousness directly, and it appears she had an ally inside the castle.

Richtenreich: It is of no matter. By the way, now that we are alone... isn't it a little strange for us to be talking this way? Or are you enjoying this charade, perhaps?

Zigfried: Impossible...

Richtenreich: I, too, am tired of talking in this body. It has been too long since I returned to my true form...

Pre-level 6 cutscene

Soldiers: There they are! Get them!

Earnest:
Damn! We've really got ourselves into it this time. Annet! You've got to find Zigfried! I'll hold them off here.

Annet: But...

Earnest: Remember what you saw in that train with Zigfried! If we let him get away with this, it's game over for humanity. If it comes to it, you have to use all your power and destroy this train. Got it?

Annet: But if I destroy the train, what about you...!

Earnest: Forget about me.

Annet: Mr. Earnest...

Earnest: Go, quickly!

Earnest: Now then... let's get to know each other a little better!

Zigfried: Welcome, Annet.

Annet: Mr. Zig... the Princess, where is Princess Aisha?!

Zigfried: Come now, there's no need to rush. Wouldn't you like to see your old friend again?

Annet: Restiana!

Annet: Mr. Zig, what are you planning to do to her?!

Zigfried: First, let's have a little test. To see how serious you really are...

Pre-level 7 cutscene

Zigfried: Such tremendous power... just as I expected from you.

Annet: Mr. Zig... why?

Richtenreich: What are you so concerned about, Annet?

Annet: Who's there?!

Richtenreich: Is it because you killed your friend? Or because you still don't know where the Princess is?

Annet: Who are you?

Zigfried: Hahahaha... You can't tell?

Annet: Mr. Zig?!

Zigfried: Please spare me your stupid questions, like if I am the "real" Zigfried. The one you called Zigfried Munnhausen is dead. I am all that remains now. I would expect you, of all people, to understand. Yes, yes, have no fear... the Princess is safe with me. Now then...

Zigfried: Ah, has it already begun? Too bad, I was going to tell you myself how to initiate the self-destruct on this train.

Annet: Ugh... Mr. Earnest!!!

Earnest: Hey there!

Annet: Huh?!

Earnest: Kirke helped me escape. And his troops have already invaded the enemy base...

Annet: Huh...idiot!

Earnest: Hey, can't you drive this thing a little more gently?!

Kirke: But if we don't hurry, the Princess...!

Earnest: And what the hell has Zigfried become...

Annet: I don't know if that person is the Mr. Zig I knew... or even if the human Zigfried, as we knew him, ever really existed...

Kirke: You're saying he's something... not human?

Earnest: We'll find out the truth soon enough, once we reach the Nexuses headquarters.

Nexuses Government Office

Pre-level 7 cutscene

Aisha: Rghhhhh....

Zigfried: You had better stop now. Are you sure you want to kill this cute little monster? Her form may have changed, but this is actually a woman whom the three of you are quite familiar with...

Earnest: Impossible!

Annet: How could you...

Kirke: Princess Aisha!

Zigfried: Worry not. There is a way to change her back. How about a little game, then? If I win, you give me the Two-Faced Idol in your possession. If you win, I will tell you the way to change her back.

Earnest: Let's do it! I'm going to wrap this whip around your damn neck!

Zigfried: Oh, you are mistaken, my dear friend. Your opponent... is her.

Aisha: KILL!!!

Pre-level 7 cutscene

Kirke: Please stop, Annet!!

Earnest: If you go any further, you'll kill the Princess!

Zigfried: Amazing, Annet.

Earnest: Zig... we won your game.

Annet: Please, tell us how to turn the Princess back!

Zigfried: As you wish. Please take out the idol, then.

Earnest: What?! Why?

Zigfried: That idol has been worshipped by people since ancient times. As has the jewel in this pendant... however, you won't find it in any of your texts. For a long time now, I have been erasing all records of it.

Earnest: ...what?

Zigfried: I may look like a normal man to you, but I have lived for a very long time... longer than you can imagine or comprehend.

Earnest: What the hell are you?!

Zigfried: I am the same Zigfried you all know well. That idol has the power to rejuvenate living cells, and let one stay eternally young. However, as you may guess from the twin faces of the idol, it also contains the opposite power... to destroy all life.

Zigfried: Now, take the jewel from the pendant and place it in the idol. Ah yes, I almost forgot. For a human to unleash the power of the idol, you need love--not pity, or compassion, but true love. Hahahaha...I don't imagine there is any among you who possesses such a thing...

Kirke: Mr. Earnest...

Kirke: Princess... please...

Annet: Mr. Kirke, you...

Zigfried: Incredible! I never imagined there was still a human being capable of drawing out such power...

Aisha: Ki-Kirke...

Kirke: Aisha!

Aisha: Kirke!

Zigfried: Now that that's done, I'll be taking this back.

Earnest: I don't think so!

Zigfried: Oh! Tsch...

Annet: Mr. Earnest!

Zigfried: Tsch...how careless of me.

Annet: Mr. Earnest! What?!

Zigfried: So long as this barrier remains in place, you cannot reach him.

Annet: Mr. Zig, please! Let me out of here! Let me go to Mr. Earnest!

Zigfried: You don't need my permission. Why not try using your own powers to break out?

Annet: My power... how?

Zigfried: Oh, that's simple: just defeat me!

Ending

Annet: Mr. Earnest... open your eyes... please! Wake up! Don't leave me alone!

Palm Renvrant Grand Cathedral

Priest: In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, I now pronounce you, Aisha von Renvrant, Queen!

Annet: Isn't it great!

Earnest: Yeah. The Queen's coronation went off without a hitch, and Virgilis and his men have all been rounded up. And Liutenant--I mean, Captain Kirke--under his protection, this kingdom will never fall into such chaos again.

Annet: No, I meant, isn't it great that the two of them are now free to love each other...

Annet: ..and, also, I...

Earnest: Annet... there's something I've been meaning to ask you...

Annet: ...yes?

Earnest: What should our next target be? I was thinking, since we're already here in Europe and all, after I'm healed up I was thinking we'd check out Cologne. Besides, I don't have any money now, so...

Annet: ...

Earnest: Agh!

Earnest: Hey! I'm still injured here!

Annet: Hmph!

Berlin, Germany

Man 1: So these are the blueprints for the rocket, then.

Man 2: These will surely lead our army to victory. We shall call them the "V-Weapons".

Man 1: Here's the money, as we promised.

Man 2: Now nothing will stop our Empire from spreading across the globe.

Man 1: Quick, get into the car.

Zigfried: Foolish men. As if these scraps of paper had any value to a God like me.

Zigfried: Let your fanfare for humanity's destruction ring out to the high heavens. I'm counting on you, Adolf...hahahaha...
