WWF Raw

WWF Raw is a wrestling game which had been released for several video game consoles in 1994. The 32X version was the last version to be released, and features some extras that the other versions don't have, along with other slight changes and edits. The game has many different game modes, from standard one on one matches to tag team fights and the Royal Rumble.

Whilst I'm not a wrestling fan, I did enjoy WWF Wrestlemania somewhat. But I didn't like this game as much. The graphics aren't very good, with ugly sprites, and they barely look better than the Genesis version. I don't like that there is no music at all during a match, and overall the gameplay isn't as exciting as what Wrestlemania offered. It does at least offer a multiplayer mode where up to four people can play against each other, but then I think only big WWF/WWE fans would want to play this. Out of the two wrestling games on the 32X, I'd recommend WWF Wrestlemania.

Info

Pick a wrestler (or wrestlers) and then enter the WWF championship. Use punches, kicks, throws and your character's special moves to wear down your opponents, and then pin them to win the match. Fights take place in and out of the right, and outside you can find weapons to use. Weapons have limited use, such as the bucket, which you can throw at your opponent.

WWF Raw has lots of game modes. Fight one on one and it will just be you against one opponent. Tag team matches let you pick two characters, and then take on other teams. You can switch characters during a match, or sometimes get your other wrestler to attack the opponent from the side of the ring. You can even get them to come on and join in the match, making it a 2 on 1 battle.

Other modes include the Royal Rumble, where things get really hectic -wrestlers constantly come into the ring as you try and fight them off, just try to survive for as long as possible. Many of the modes can be played with 2, 3 or 4 human players -you'll need the multiplayer adapter to get this to work, though.

Cheats

Unlock Kwang
At the character select screen, press down, A and B together. A bell will be heard. Cycle through the wrestlers to find Kwang added to the roster. His moves are taken from several of the other wrestlers in the game.

Increase punch power
When the WWF copyright screen appears, hold down start and press up five times. The screen will shake and briefly flash red. When you start the game, your character's punches will do massive amounts of damage to their opponent.

Edit stats
Enter the stats screen for the wrestler you want to pick. Then enter the relevant code:

Maximum stats

Enter the stats screen for the wrestler you want to pick. Enter their "edit stats" code (see above). Then hold down start until you hear a bell. You can now edit each catergory to the maximum level.

Select the same character twice
This works for any mode where you can pick more than one wrestler. Select the first wrestler you want, then quickly press and hold the start, up, A and C buttons.

Trivia

Hackers have found that, in the the Genesis version, there is a unused placeholder wrestler. It is possible that this placeholder was for Kwang, who was added to the 32X version. The 32X version of WWF Raw was released after the other version, so the developers might have had a little more time to finish the extra character off -although Kwang still uses moves from other characters. The Super Nintendo version also has an unused placeholder character.
