Virtua Racing Deluxe prototypes

There are currently three prototypes available for this game.

August 22nd 1994
August 29th 1994
September 5th, 1994

August 22nd 1994

-The SEGA logo has someone shout "SEGA", using the same voice clip games like Sonic the Hedgehog use.

-The intro music is missing a backing track, so it sounds like it keeps looping.

-The way the guy screams "Virtua Racing" in this proto is hilarious.

-Several of the menus have different icons.

-At the course select screen, the 3D circuits are zoomed in too close. Acropolis is split into two words: "Acro Polis".

-The circuits are missing details or have differences, such as the sand in Sand Park have a darker color in this build.

-Sand Park's intro theme is the same as Bay Bridge's.

-The options menu cannot be accessed. Trying to enter it just brings you back into the main menu.

-The "Get goal!" voice is different.

-Placing first doesn't add a cup to the circuit's icon in the course select menu.

August 29th 1994

-A SEGA Sports logo has been added, it appears after the SEGA logo.

-The menu screens have been updated, with new icons, plus the options button now works.

-Some details have been changed on the circuits, such as the "MAXHEAD 17M" sign on the Sand Park track.

September 5th, 1994

-The SEGA logo now features an eingine noise, like the final game.

-The intro music has now been fixed.

-The voice that yells "Virtua Racing" has been changed. This voice clip would end up not being used in the American and European versions, but was used in the Japnese version.

-The menus have had another update, and now match the final version's menus.

-"Get goal!" has been changed, and now matches the final version. It can also now be played in the sound test.

-Sand Park's intro theme has been changed to what the final game uses.
