Fahrenheit

Developed by SEGA, Fahrenheit is a FMV game where you have to search through buildings and rescue people. You have to make choices of where to go next, or if you should risk opening a door or removing a potentially dangerous object. Unlike a lot of other FMV games, making the wrong choice doesn't always mean an instant game over -whilst this still can happen, most of the time you'll still be able to go on.

It has the same problems as other FMV games, mainly that once you've beaten it, there's nothing to come back to. Making progress just comes down to trial and error, and once you remember where everything is and what the best routes are, you will have seen everything the game has to offer.

The 32X CD version has more colors than the regular version, but it seems to have a smaller picture.

Info

This game puts you in control of a rookie firefighter, who joins Station 13. You and your crew must enter burning buildings are rescue whoever is trapped in there. There are three different locations, and you'll have to explore each building to find anyone trapped inside them, along with finding a safe way out.

As you move through each room, directions will appear on the screen. Pres a direction on the pad to choose where you want to go. Sometimes you will have to make a choice, such as whether or not you want a dangerous object removed. For these, you must press a button on the controller. Sometimes making the wrong choice can result in your team being blown away, but knowing what the right choice is is just a matter of trying them all out.

Press start to pause the game. This will show you any sub-objectives you've yet to do. For example in the first mission, don't move onto the second floor straight away, as the sub-objectives reveal you need to find and remove a couple of things from the first floor before you can move up. You have a limited amount of oxygen (which is shown via the bar on the bottom left of the screen) so moving quickly is a must. If you run out of oxygen, it'll result in a game over.

Trivia

The American version of Fahrenheit included two discs -one disc has the SEGA CD version on it, whilst the other is the 32X CD version. They were not released seperately. To play the 32X CD version, you need to have your 32X console plugged in, then insert the first disc (which is the SEGA CD version) and turn your Genesis on. The game will ask for the second disc to be inserted, and when that's done, the 32X CD version will start. I presume this is also the case with the Brazillian version.

Europe and Japan only got the SEGA CD versions of the game.
