Some time later, Jagi decides to put a plan into action. He finds Shin, the master of Nanto Koshu Ken (South Star Lone Eagle Fist). Shin wants to know what happened to Jagi's face, but he says nothing happened, despite the fact that he is now wearing a helmet so no-one can see it.

Jagi quickly changes the subject by talking about Yuria. He knows that Shin loves her, so he should take her. She may be with Kenshiro, but Jagi says that Kenshiro is weak. Yuria could be in danger by being with him. If Shin wants to do anything about it, he should do it now, as they will be leaving soon.

The nuclear war had happened and ended some time a go and in the aftermath, Kenshiro and Yuria decide to travel together to start over. However, as Ken takes his girlfriend to his bike, Shin and his men appear. Shin says that now, power is the true justice and that in this new era, if a strong person forgets what pity is, they can take what they want. Kenshiro questions what Shin means by this.

Shin makes it simple for him: he intends to take Yuria. Yuria says she could never love him, but he ignores her and says that he would rather die than see her with Kenshiro. He then swipes at Ken and cuts his face. Ken asks Shin what he's doing as Hokuto and Nanto are strong together, but fighting each other would be a disaster. Shin doesn't care, believing his Nanto Koshu Ken style is all he needs to take whatever he wants, including Yuria's love. Yuria says he will never be able to steal her love by using force, but as he leaps up Shin wonders if he can or can't, and tells her that's what he intends to find out! Ken leaps up at Shin.

NANTO GOKUTO KEN

(South Star Hell Slaughter Fist)

As both fighters land, Kenshiro stands up but then his parts of his arms and legs break open, with blood going everywhere. He collapses as Shin walks over and tells him that it was his desire to protect Yuria that let him win. There is a major difference between the two of them -desire. Kenshiro has no desire, whilst Shin uses force to take whatever he wants.

Shin's men pick Kenshiro up as Shin walks up to him and tells Yuria that she is the only one who can save his life. All she has to do is tell Shin she loves him now, rather than Kenshiro. Yuria warns him that if Kenshiro is killed, she will kill herself, but Shin stabs into Ken's chest with one of his fingers, scarring him for life.

Shin says he could never tolerate Kenshiro's existence anyway and stabs him several more times, in a way that the wounds on his chest look like the big dipper.

Yuria has seen enough and quietly tells Shin that she loves him. However Shin refuses to believe her, saying that he can't hear her and that she really can't move his heart when she mumbles it like that. He resumes torturing Kenshiro some more when Yuria shouts that she loves him, and will follow him anywhere.

Shin releases Ken and then taunts him by saying that the woman who just said she hated him has now said that she will follow him anywhere. They start to leave, as Ken is left lying down in a pool of his own blood.

(One Year Later)

Shin is now the ruler in Southern Cross, one of the world's largest cities. He watches as a truck full of slaves arrives in the city, with the prisoners being marked with the Bloody Cross symbol. Shin comments that they don't seem to be getting as many slaves in as they used to. One of his men says that it is because of Ken-Oh and his army. They are not powerful enough to invade the territories controlled by Ken-Oh. Shin explains to the man that Ken-Oh is also known as Raoh, and that he met him a long time a go.

Elsewhere Yuria is thinking about Kenshiro and how she has been waiting to see him again. But she can't wait any longer and has realised that she is the only one who can put a stop to Shin's madness. She puts a necklace with the big dipper formation on it around Tobi's neck and then tells him to take it to Kenshiro. She then gets up and heads out to the large balcony.

Before she can do anything, Shin comes into the room with some gifts for her. He has a new dress along with lots of rare jewels, including an emerald necklace which he thinks will look good on her. However she rejects all of this, saying that stuff like the red ruby reminds her of all the bloodshed in the city. Shin gets angry and throws everything to the floor, saying how she could not possibly like all of this. The people, the trees, the entire city of Southern Cross is for her, and she should stop acting in this way.

She tells him he will never turn her heart like that. He correctly guesses that she must still think of Kenshiro, but then Yuria says she cannot allow him to do these terrible things to get what he wants any more. Shin wonders what she plans to do, but she suddenly steps forward to the edge and falls off! Shin attempts to grab her...

...but he isn't fast enough and Yuria plummets down into the street below. Shin can do nothing but watch, but he then turns around and runs down to the bottom of the building. Tobi follows him.

Shin heads outside and to his amazement he finds that Yuria is still alive! There is not a single wound on her. Suddenly he hears something behind him and turns around to see that three other people are there. One of them tells him that they saved Yuria. He asks who they are.

They are part of the Nanto Goshasei (South Star Five Chariots). There is Rihaku of the Ocean and his daughter, Tou. Fudo of the Mountain is also there. They explain to Shin that they have come to take Yuria away, as it is their mission to protect her. She is a descendent of the Nanto lineage. Shin says that he doesn't need their help in protecting her, he is capable of doing it himself. However Rihaku warns him that someone sinister is approaching this city.

Shuren and Hyuui, two other members of the Nanto Goshasei, then appear and tell the others that they need to hide as Ken-Oh is heading this way. Ken-Oh was the one Rihaku was just warning about and he says that most of the territories near Southern Cross now belong to him. He now intends to invade Southern Cross, as he wants Yuria. Rihaku says that if Raoh takes her, he will kill her without hesitation if she refuses to love him. If his army and Shin's army fight each other, it will inevitably come to a clash between the two leaders. If Shin fights Raoh, will he be able to protect Yuria? Shin thinks about it and takes another look at Yuria. He touches her face, but as he does she weakly says "Ken".

Shin makes up his mind and passes Yuria over to Fudo. He tells them all to leave his city quickly as if people think Yuria is dead, Raoh will no longer try to pursue her. He knows that people will blame him for her "death" but it doesn't matter. Kenshiro will soon arrive in Southern Cross to settle things with him, so until that day they need to keep Yuria alive. He then heads back into his palace alone.
