Near the pyramid, a banquet has been prepared for Souther. However he says that he doesn't like the taste of the food, so he kicks the table, snapping it into two pieces and sending the food all over the floor. A lot of children were made to watch and one tries to pick up a chicken leg when a guard kicks him across the room, telling the others that just because they get to starve doesn't mean the Holy Emperor will. Meanwhile, Kenshiro is chained up inside the pyramid.

Later that night, Shuu's son, Shiba, inflritates the pyramid so he can rescue Kenshiro. After knocking out two guards by himself, he removes Ken's chains and attempts to get him back to the resistance HQ. However a sandstorm has picked up during the night...

...so their progress is slow. Ken asks Shiba why he is helping him by himself. Shiba explains that his father kept telling him about how Kenshiro was the only one capable of defeating Souther. As they continue on, the Holy Emperor's troops have found out Kenshiro is missing and start to search the nearby areas.

Shiba hears the bikes and so takes cover, whilst trying to treat some of Ken's wounds. But Ken tells him to leave and get away from here. If he stays with him, the soldiers will kill them both. Shiba just says that if he can help Kenshiro in anyway, he will have no regrets. Ken questions what he means by that but before he can stop him, Shiba bids him farewell and starts to run away.

Shiba gets the troop's attention and they follow him. He leads them into a canyon but he then stops. As the troops get closer, they tells him to lead them to Kenshiro, but he says nothing and reveals that he is holding something.

And that something is a detonator! He hits the button and some explosives go off, sending lots of rocks down which kill all of the troops along with Shiba. Kenshiro sees the explosion, but he is in no condition to do anything and collapses from his injuries.

Later Ken-Oh and some troops find Kenshiro in the sand. Ken-Oh picks him up and says that Ken cannot die just yet -there is only one person who will have the honor of killing him, and that person is Ken-Oh.

Kenshiro wakes up and finds himself on a bed where Bat and some other kids are watching over him. Bat explains that they found Ken nearby, and there were some hoof prints from a large horse next to him. Ken remembers that Shiba died for him and goes outside to see Shuu looking out towards Souther's pyramid. Shuu turns around and says Ken shouldn't be up in his condition, but Ken wants to apologise for what happened to Shiba.

Shuu says he has great pride in his son for doing what he did. The next morning, Shuu has given Ken medicine that should make him fully recover from his injuries, but it will make him sleep first. Just then several large explosions rock the base -they are under attack!

Shuu finds out that Souther's army has found them and are all gathered around outside. Shuu takes Bat and Ken down to the sewers and puts them on a small raft. He tells Bat that when Ken wakes up, tell him this message: "Within these fists you have the power to realize the wishes of this generation's unfortunate children." He also wishes that if he could see again, he would want to see Ken now that he's grown up. He then pushes the raft away.

Souther's forces begin to move in and take the children, but one of them gets split into two as Shuu appears.

The troops surround him, but he doesn't care about them. Shuu is only here to kill Souther. Souther says that today will mark the end of the Nanto Hakurou Ken style, as Shuu leaps up and heads straight towards him.

Souther moves out of the way of Shuu's strike at the last moment. He tells Shuu that this is the only chance he has in killing him, but if he does, he will have his troops kill all of the women and children here. Shuu hesitates over what to do, but Souther then makes his move.

He slices into Shuu's legs and says that he has cut through his veins. He will ever be able to Nanto Hakurou Ken again. He doesn't tolerate resistance from anyone and tells Shuu that he has a special death prepared for him. Shuu is dragged away, but as he is he quietly says for Ken to hear the cry from his soul, and then yells Ken's name.

Meanwhile in the sewers, some of Souther's forces have entered from the opposite end and find some kids down there. They are going to kill them when they see what appears to be smoke not far away. One goes to investigate this, when he sees someone heading his way.

The other soldier is knocked over suddenly and when he sees what knocked him over he runs away: his friend just got decapitated. Kenshiro is back and he says that Shuu is calling him. There are many soldiers outside, but they see something is up as Ken walks out.

The biggest soldier present attempts to stop him, but is quickly beaten out of the way. Bat watches Ken walk calmly past all of the terrified troops and says that nobody can stop Ken now. Ken stops and then charges with energy, destroying his bandages and healing all of the injuries Souther gave him.

Meanwhile Souther tells Shuu how ironic this situation is. He has opposed him for the longest time, yet now he will be the one to complete the holy pyramid. The last piece of it is placed on top of him, and he is made to carry it all the way to the top.

Raoh is informed that Souther intends to execute Shuu and that Kenshiro has been seen going back to the pyramid. Raoh says that this is foolish, as Kenshiro doesn't know what Souther's secret is, so he cannot win. Toki then appears and suggests that they should go and help Kenshiro, but Raoh says no. He doesn't know what Souther's secret is and Kenshiro wouldn't want his help anyway. Toki says he does know his secret, but when he tried to tell Kenshiro he didn't want to know. Ken wanted to figure it out for himself.

Yoh then appears and tells Raoh that in order to aid Kenshiro, Reina has just left with some troops to attack Souther's forces. Raoh tells him to get all of his forces together, as it is time to decide who is going to die: them or Souther. He tells Toki that he isn't doing this for Kenshiro or Reina, but for Shuu, as he is in debt to him after what he did during the Nanto "Ten Battles to the Death". Meanwhile Ken and Bat are making their way to the pyramid, but they have a lot of his forces to fight.

However help is at hand when Reina and her team arrive. They shoot arrows which kill many of Souther's troops. Reina has a spare horse for Ken and tells him to go to the pyramid, whilst they deal with things here. Meanwhile Raoh, Toki and the rest of Ken-Oh's force are on the way. Toki tells his brother that Reina isn't doing this for Kenshiro, she is doing this for him as she loves him. Raoh doesn't say anything to that.

Reina and her team have defeated one lot of Souther's troops, but they then see that the main force of the Holy Emperor has arrived. They also notice that, not far away, Raoh has come. Reina tells everyone to show Raoh what they can do and they all charge head-on into Souther's troops, with a large scale battle breaking out.

During the fighting, Reina hears a baby crying and sees two dead people and a basket. She heads over there and finds a child in the basket. She picks him up, but a volley of arrows are fired all over the area she is in, and several hit her in the back. As she collapses, Raoh comes over to her.

She tells Raoh that these children have a future, like they used to have when they were children in the Land of Shura. She passes him her pendant and then loses consciousness, as Raoh yells and tells his troops to not leave any of Souther's men alive.

Meanwhile Shuu struggles to make his way up the pyramid. Souther tells him not to drop the piece he is carrying as if he does, all of the children he has down here will be slaughtered. Lots of other children have been made to stand on the pyramid to watch Shuu walk up, but Shuu tells everyone not to worry, as the weight of this stone is nothing when he thinks about them.

As Shuu reaches the top, he says Kenshiro is here. Everyone hears a lot of noise as several of Souther's troops are thrown around in the background. Indeed, Kenshiro has arrived.

Shuu reaches the top of the pyramid. Souther tells Ken not to help Shuu in any way, as he will have all the children killed if he does. With Shuu's blood, the pyramid will be completed. Shuu tells Souther that he can say whatever he wants, but in the end this pyramid will be destroyed by the successor to Hokuto Shinken, and that the stars of Nanto can never shrine with the Holy Emperor at their head.

Souther shuts Shuu up by having arrows launched at him. Kenshiro has seen enough and starts to run up the pyramid, but Souther has the ideal finishing blow for Shuu. He gets a spear and takes aim...

...and by the time Kenshiro gets to him, Shuu has been impaled by it. But as Shuu opens his eyes, it is revealed he can see again. God has granted him the one wish he had, as he can now see the grown up Kenshiro.

Shuu tells Kenshiro to go on and live in the new era. He will be forever watching over him. He then drops the last piece of the pyramid on himself and dies under it. Ken says that he will live on forever inside him and then turns around and points to Souther, saying that when he is done through with him...there will be nothing left!
