Near some ruins, Kenshiro and friends have arrived. Toki immediately goes up to several gravestones and begins to pray. Lin asks him if these are the gravestones of his parents, which they are. He explains that this place used to be his hometown and that he was born here -he'll also die here. There are two extra graves -one for him along with one for Raoh!

Bat then runs in saying that he's found gigantic horse hoof prints and everyone guesses that it can only mean one thing: Raoh is nearby. Sure enough, Raoh is not that far away at all, and is looking at some markings in the side of a cliff. The marks are from training battles that took place a long time a go, but before he can dwell much on this subject his horse begins to neigh, having seen that a few people are approaching.

Toki and the others have arrived, as Raoh sees that his brother has finally tracked him down. This place, where they used to train, will be the perfect place for their battle. Before they can start that though, Raoh punches part of the wall to reveal a hidden area full of weapons and two uniforms that belonged to him and his brother when they were young. They've both grown up now, but Raoh asks Toki "if he can remember". He can...

When they were younger, Raoh and Toki were left to fend for themselves. Having studied martial arts, they needed to try and make a living and survive. Having found a cave to store their weapons in, Raoh was telling his brother to be strong when suddenly another man appeared.

The man is Ryuken, who tells Raoh that he knew his father. He takes the pair back outside to a cliff and tells them to stand next to the edge of it. As soon as they do that, Ryuken suddenly kicks part of the rock wall without warning...

...which causes the floor Raoh and Toki are standing on to collapse. They both plummet to the ground below but both survive, despite taking some injuries. Toki's leg has been badly wounded however and he is unable to walk. Ryuken tells the two that he only agreed to adopt one of them to become the successor to Hokuto Shinken, and whoever makes it up to him will become that one. He then walks off and waits.

After sitting and waiting for a few minutes, Ryuken thinks that neither child is going to make it, so he gets up to leave. However he then hears something and turns to see that Raoh has made it up...but he's brought his brother with him! Which means he only used one of his own arms to reach the top. Raoh demands that he will only take up Hokuto Shinken if his brother gets to live with him too. He then passes out, but Ryuken saves them both from falling again. With this display of strength, Ryuken believes that Raoh will go beyond his expectations.

Back in the present, Raoh asks if Toki wants to begin now. As the two square off against each other, Lin asks if they can stop them but Kenshiro says no -nothing can come between the two now. They see that their styles seem to be completely different, despite that they are both masters of Hokuto Shinken.

Kenshiro thinks this is because of the different ways they have each lived their lives. After releasing their auras, Raoh attacks first and aims a punch at his brother's head. But just before it connects, Toki moves back and then jumps high into the air.

Raoh attempts to punch Toki whilst he's in the air, but it ends up with him parrying the blow with a well timed kick instead. As Toki lands back down Raoh tells him that being close to death has made him fearless. Toki disagrees, saying that it was his brother's existence that made him stronger...

The training Raoh went through was very hard, and Ryuken beat him daily. One day Toki watched outside with his pet bird, Koko, as Raoh tried to attack Ryuken. After wiping the floor with him, Ryuken left, saying that was enough for today. With him gone, Toki goes in to find his brother battered but alive.

Raoh tells him that he won't ever give up as if he fails, they will both be kicked out of the dojo. And besides that, Raoh wants to become as strong as he can, so much so that he'll be the best and everyone in the world will know his name. The next morning, Toki was doing some washing when Koko suddenly flew away with one of the sheets. Toki goes to look for his pet only to find him shot dead with an arrow!

The crook who did it shows up to stomp on the corpse, and then tells Toki that he enjoys torturing small animals and it'll make a great meal. This gets Toki angered enough to batter the punk with Hokuto style moves!

After flooring the guy, Toki proceeds to smash his face in with punches and is only stopped when Ryuken and Raoh arrive. Ryuken sees that Toki must have been watching them practice and asks Toki if he also wants to learn Hokuto Shinken. Toki says that he does, and doesn't care about the fact that there can only be one successor. Ryuken tells Toki to come to tomorrow's training session and then leaves. Raoh asks why Toki is going to do this and he tells him that he wants to become strong, just like his big brother, and even surpass him. Raoh tells him that if he should ever take the wrong path, he wants Toki to stop him.

Back in the present, Toki says the time has come for him to fulfill the promise he made, and hits Raoh with many strikes. Bat and Lin think he has hit Raoh's pressure points, but he hasn't. Raoh recovers immediately, and tells Toki to stop holding back -he will not win if he continues to not use all of his strength.

Raoh then does a punch that Toki evades and his fist goes straight through a wall. Before he can recover from that, Toki has already leapt up behind Raoh to strike him in the head, but Raoh instantly kicks him away! Kenshiro notes that Roah just used "Musou Insatsu", a technique that allowed Raoh to predict what Toki was going to do and counter it subconsciously. Toki uses "Juu no Ken" (Fist of Gentleness), which will not be enough to break Raoh's "Gou no Ken" (fist of strength).

Raoh declares that he has foreseen the outcome of this fight and uses the Ganzan Ryouzan Ha, but Toki blocks it. The power of the attack causes the land around them to crumble but more importantly, Toki is using the Gou no Ken! Raoh can't believe it as that is his style and his style only, but Toki says that from watching him train when they were younger, he also knows how to use it.

Toki then uses this technique to make his muscles much bigger than normal and lands a strike on Raoh. Before he strikes back, Toki points to the heavens and tells his brother to look up at the big dipper -he will see the star of death!

Raoh looks up and what Toki is saying is true -he can see the star of death! Kenshiro explains to Lin and Bat that it is said that when two masters of Hokuto fight, both of them will be able to see that star. Toki tells his brother to get ready -it is time they finally closed this chapter of their lives.
