Shuu continues up the mausoleum, and is nearly at the top. Souther thinks that when he places the last piece, the Holy Cross Mausoleum will be complete, and it will shine as a symbol of his power.

Bat and Lin drive through the desert, heading towards Souther's mausoleum, when they come across a lot of dead bodies. Lin just wants to get past this area as quickly as possible, whilst Bat notices that the dead people are Souther's troops -it seems someone took them on and won recently. Meanwhile, Shuu's resistance has re-grouped and also starts to head towards the mausoleum, so they can save their leader and kill Souther.

But as they make their way across the desert, part of Souther's army appears and ambushes them. A fight breaks out between the two sides, but with the resistance being totally outnumbered, things don't look good for them.

Suddenly three of Souther's troops explode, as Toki arrives to help the resistance out. He tells the leader of Souther's men to leave, unless they want to fight him. Even though the leader knows who he is, he charges towards him. Before he can get close, he notices that something is right next to him.

Ken-Oh has arrived, and this fact is enough to make the troop crash his bike. Raoh tells Toki that even though he is sick, his fists do not seem to have weakened. But the reason he is here is to witness Kenshiro's death -as he does not know what Souther's secret is, he cannot win in a fight against him.

Toki then surprises Raoh by saying he knows what Souther's secret is, and he will not let Kenshiro die yet. He still has another unfinished battle to take care of. The leader of Souther's troops then tells his men to attack, but as they do, Raoh heads straight towards them. They are soon all defeated by Kokuoh alone.

The leader is the only one left and tries to switch sides by joining Ken-Oh's forces, only to find out that Raoh does not want men like him. Kokuoh then crushes him under his own bike as Toki says they need to go on -they will go to the mausoleum together.

Shuu is nearly at the top when he thinks about Kenshiro, and he hopes he heard his call earlier. Souther yells out that if he stops now, no mercy will be shown to the hostages. Meanwhile, Kenshiro stands next to the edge of a cliff and see the Holy Cross Mausoleum.

A few moments later, Souther turns around and all of his troops also turn to see what he is looking at. Another one of his men is heading straight towards them all, and slides a great distance across the ground before smashing into the podium Souther is on. Souther asks him what is going on, but he just speaks gibberish.

"You are already...dead."

Kenshiro appears, as Souther tells him that he has been waiting for the successor to Hokuto Shinken to return. Souther's troops then charge towards Kenshiro...

...but several of them get flattened by a large pillar. They look up and see that Ken-Oh has also appeared. And if that wasn't bad enough for them, Toki then also arrives at the mausoleum.

Souther sees the three Hokuto brothers have arrived, which makes sense. As when Nanto is in disarray, Hokuto appears. But he doesn't mind that three of the most powerful warriors on the Earth stand before him -he intends to turn all three of them into pillars for his Holy Cross Mausoleum. Bat and Lin arrive, and Bat thinks that they are going to witness an amazing battle, if Ken, Toki and Ken-Oh are all present. Kenshiro sees Shuu and is about to head up to him, but Souther says he can't and won't let him interfere -if he does, he'll kill all of the women and children held hostage.

Shuu then calls out, telling Kenshiro not to come up here as the stone he is carrying represents the lives of the hostages, and he will get to where he needs to be by himself. He does this, only to realise that Souther has set it up so he will die here. He tells Souther that this last piece is not for him, but for the Nanto Roku Seiken, and it represents the men who shined as the Nanto stars and died. Whilst he will place this piece, he says that the successor to Hokuto Shinken will destroy the mausoleum. And no star of Nanto will ever become an Emperor. Shuu's comments annoy Souther, and he has him shot with several arrows.

Souther says that placing that piece wouldn't quite be enough to complete the mausoleum -Shuu's blood will make it sturdier. Ken then starts to run up the pyramid, but Souther has a spear brought to him.

He intends the spear to be the finishing strike, and throws it at Shuu. It narrowly misses piercing through Kenshiro's head before hitting Shuu in his chest.

Kenshiro arrives, but as he gets there, Shuu's pupils appear once more -he can see again! He has been granted his wish of being able to see Kenshiro as a grown man. He says that Kenshiro has become strong, and he can see a resemblance of Shiba in him.

He tells Kenshiro to go - go on and open the path of this age. He will forever be watching over him. He then says that his wife and son are waiting for him, and tells Kenshiro that this is goodbye.

Shuu dies as he lets the final piece of the mausoleum crush him. Toki says that the star of benevolence shined brightly until the end, and even Raoh thought it was a remarkable final moment. Meanwhile, all Kenshiro can do is feel the last piece.

He tells Shuu to live on inside him, before turning around and calling out to Souther -when he is done with the Holy Emperor, there will be nothing left of him!
